Abstract
Spherically symmetric, extremal black holes in a N = 2 supergravity theory coupled to vector multiplets, can be studied in terms of an effective black hole potential. Critical points of this effective potential give supersymmetry preserving as well as supersymmetry breaking black holes. We study explicit examples of non-supersymmetric solutions, and discuss some subtle issues regarding their stability. © 2008 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
