Abstract
Interference fitted assemblies are most widely used in engineering practice because of excellent load carrying capacity, reliability and ease of assembly. For a specific fitting with fixed interference, the strength can be improved by thermal treatment and also by introducing a layer between the mating parts through plating the shafts. An experimental investigation of the above factors on the fitting strength is obtained and discussed in detail. © 1993.
