X-ray structure analysis of meta chloronitrobenzene

Meta chloronitrobenzene crystallizes in orthorhombic space group Pbn2l with four molecules in a unit cell. The unit-cell dimensions are a = 6.00, b = 21.40 and c = 5.35 A. The structure was solved from hk0 and Okl data by sharpened Patterson projections and refined by difference syntheses. The R value for 110 hkO reflections of measurable intensity was reduced to 0.16 and for 77 Okl reflections to 0.13.
