Abstract
The effect of varying pulse during Gas Tungsten Arc (GTA) Welding (500 to 2000Hz) on the solidification and Laves phase formation in Alloy 718 fusion zone has been studied. Interdendritic segregation decreased in the intermediate pulse frequency range due to the enhanced convection and resulted in the refined fusion zone microstructure with more of equiaxed dendrites.
