Abstract
Pulsed electrolysis of nickel has been systematically investigated by electrodepositing nickel from a Watts-type bath. Pulse duty cycles of 10 to 80 percent at frequencies from 10 to 100 Hz, with various current densities ranging from 4 to 12 A/dm2 were employed. Hull Cell experiments were conducted with both direct current and pulsed current. The effect of pulsed current on current efficiency, cathode potential and properties such as porosity and hardness of the deposit have been studied in detail. Conventional d-c experiments were also conducted for comparison.
