Abstract
The quercetin/surfactant/solvent systems are investigated using UV–VIS techniques. The reversed micelles (empty and containing water in their core) formed by Dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate and Tween 60 (surfactants) in 1,4-dioxane and acetone (solvents) have been used to mimic in a simple way certain structural aspects of natural membranes, especially their hydrophobic parts. The micellar solutions were employed to study interactions with quercetin to check its location in micelles. Obtained results allowed to point that the quercetin molecules’ preferred location in studied micelles is palisade layer. Furthermore, the distribution constant, and binding constant values of quercetin in the examined systems have been calculated.
