Abstract
The electrical resistivity of β1Mn46Zn54 and β1Mn56Zn44 alloys has been investigated in the temperature range 300K - 715K. The temperature dependence of the resistivity shows a unique variation upto 450K above which it undergoes a continuous change of slope. From the changes in slope it is understood that various crystallographic and magnetic phase transformations occur at different temperatures which are confirmed by X-ray diffraction and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The magnetic phase transition occuring at 550K is attributed to an apparent magnetic transition of the first kind. © 1986.
