Abstract
The dynamic behavior of a typical Indian Railway track system due to the effect of track irregularities has been studied, with special emphasis on "track moduluse". The analysis of the track system has been done using the commercially available finite element package ANSYS. A comprehensive static analysis of the track system has been done for two types of subgrade. Dynamic track displacement and track modulus have been computed for different rail/wheel irregularities like OOR and rail dipped joint, applied as an impact load on different types of tracks. The analysis has been extended to study the effect of gap between sleeper and ballast on track displacement and track modulus. The effect of boundary condition (fixed boundary and absorbing boundary conditions for the infinite subgrade beneath the track) on two types of track systems has been studied. Such work has not been reported in literature. © Krishtel eMaging Solutions Private Limited.
