Abstract
Heat resistant aluminum alloy RR58 was subjected to compression at different temperatures using a high velocity gravity drop hammer. The deformation force, punch travel, and temperature of the specimens during deformation were measured using proper instrumentation. Flow curves are obtained in the temperature range 300-800 K. During deformation the specimen temperature has increased because of the deformation energy being converted to heat energy. Necessary corrections are incorporated to compensate for the adiabatic temperature rise. Flow stress, true strain and temperature are related.
