PHYSICS OF HELIUM II WITH RESPECT TO TECHNICAL APPLICATIONS.

An understanding of the physics of HeII with respect to flow through narrow channels is required in such technical applications as fountain pumps and phase separators. The two fluid model of HeII is used in the analysis of such flows. A review of the available work reveals a clearer understanding of the flow through superfilters used as fountain pumps and through the active phase separator than of the flow through a porous plug as a passive phase separator. Some points which need to be investigated further are highlighted.
