PERFORMANCE OF TRIPLE-COATED CARBIDE TOOLS.

Coated tools perform well compared to plain cemented carbide tools ensuring higher productivity. Of the plain coated tools TiN, Al//2O//3 and TiC perform well. It is possible to achieve still higher productivity through use of triplecoated tools. These tools could be used successfully for machining both steel and cast iron workpieces. The mechanism of tool wear for all the tools seems to be similar.
