Abstract
Luminescent solar concentrators with liquid solutions of dyes were found to be as efficient as those with solid solutions [Kondepudi R & Srinivasan S, Indian J Pure & Appl Phys, 28 (1990) 334]. Combinations of derivatives of xanthene, and the recently synthesized derivatives of the benzoxazinone and perylene have been prepared to cover the blue to orange region of the incident spectrum. They were found to result in concentrators with significantly larger flux gains (1.5-1.6 times) than that of single dyes dissolved in liquid polymers Triton X-100 and Tween-80. Self-absorption effects in multiple dye systems inhibit increase in their flux gains.
