Abstract
The crystal and molecular structure of bis(2-imino-4-oxo-1,3-thiazolidine) silver(I) Perchlorate has been determined by x-ray techniques. The positions of heavy atoms were determined by three-dimensional Patterson synthesis and light atoms were located from subsequent Fourier synthesis. This compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with lattice parameters a= 13.75(5) Å, b = 7.35(2) Å, c = 15.88(5) Å and β = 119,9(6)° giving a calculated density ϱc = 2.27 g/cm3 and four molecules per unit cell. The structure was refined by full-matrix least-squares analysis to a final R value of 9.4%. The bond-lengths and bond-angles were calculated and discussed. The silver is found to coordinate with amino nitrogen of the two rings [Ag—N distances are 2.197(16) Å and 2.283(17) Å respectively] and to the carbonyl oxygen O*, of the symmetry-related molecule [Ag—O* = 2.543(13) Å]. Superscript * indicates a symmetry-related atom at (1—x, y— [FORMULA OMITTED], [FORMULA OMITTED] —z)]. The coordination polyhedron around silver is triangular with all the four atoms in a plane. The oxygen O(4) of the perchlorate is found to be weakly bonded to silver [Ag—O(4) = 2.90(3) Å]. The structure forms a zigzag O—C—N—Ag—O spiral which propagates in a direction parallel to b axis. © 1976, Walter de Gruyter. All rights reserved.
