Photocatalytic and Physicochemical Studies on Metallised Titania Systems

The photocatalytic activity for dehydrogenation of methanol on metallised titania systems was found to be dependent on the pretreatment conditions employed. It is shown that the surface metal dispersion or agglomeration which effectively reflects the catalytic activity is controlled by basic thermodynamic parameters like the surface fee energy, the heat quantities like heat of sublimation of the metal or the heat of formation of the oxides. © 1993, Elsevier Science & Technology.
