- PublicationSpectrophotometric determination of palladium using iodide and pyronin G(01-01-1983)
;Jaya, S. ;Rao, T. PrasadaRamakrishna, T. V.A sensitive and highly selective procedure for the spectrophotometric determination of palladium is described. It is based on the formation of the ternary ion complex Pd-I--pyronin G in a citrate-buffered medium. The colour development is instantaneous and, when stabilized with gelatin, the absorbance remains unchanged for at least 24 h. The colour system obeys Beer's law in the range 1-7 μg of palladium present in a final volume of 25 ml. This method is likely to find widespread use for the determination of palladium in minerals and alloys. © 1983. - PublicationEffect of DC Field and X†Irradiation on the Optical Absorption and Thermoluminescence of NaCl Single Crystals(01-01-1983)Optical absorption and thermoluminescence of NaCl single crystals X‐irradiated at 300 and 373 K in presence of moderately large dc fields (≈ 0 to 15kV/cm) are reported. With de field the F‐band peak shifts to lower wavelength side and the overall colour center concentration is observed to increase. An attempt is made to analyse the shift in the F‐band. - PublicationHydrodynamics of two†phase cocurrent downflow through packed beds. Part I. Macroscopic model(01-01-1983)
;Rao, V. G.; Varma, Y. B.G.Pressure drop and liquid saturation are two important design parameters in cocurrent gas‐liquid downflow through packed beds. A macroscopic model based on momentum balance is formulated for the condition of no radial pressure gradients. The model includes the effect of bubble formation on the pressure drop and holdup and is compared with the experimental data of the earlier investigators and of the present study. The model provides a functional form for correlating pressure drop and liquid saturation but some parameters have to be determined by fitting the experimental data. ;Virupakshia, A. R. ;Reddy, V. C.V.PratapaReddy, V. C.V.PratapaThis paper suggests a method for near-optimal selection of input vector probabilities for random testing of intermittent faults in combinational circuits. The assignment of input vector probabilities is obtained by equalizing the quality factors of all test vectors in a simple way. It is shown that the degree of fault detection is comparable with that of Savir [2]. © 1983 IEEE - PublicationAutomatic On-Line Correction of Differential Phase in Ntsc Signals(01-01-1983)
;Perinbam, J. Raja PaulSrinivasan, S.This paper describes the design, development and testing of a new type of coder/decoder called ‘The Double Burst Codec’ for colour television signals. This has the simplicity of the NTSC system and the differential phase correcting property of the PAL system. It is realized by modifying the horizontal blanking interval of the video signal to incorporate two subcarrier bursts, one at the blanking level and the other at the maximum luminance level. The first burst is used to regenerate the subcarrier in the decoder while the second is used for phase comparison with the regenerated subcarrier. Any phase error between the two is available as a d.c voltage for correction purposes. The error voltage and the luminance level together are fed to a level dependent phase shifting network for automatic on-line correction of the differential phase in the chrominance signal.
