Abstract
A mathematical model has been proposed to study the catalytic reduction of nitric oxide in automobile exhaust during transient and steady state operating conditions. The catalytic converter performance is analysed for typical operating inlet conditions that prevail in an engine exhaust when the automobile is operated under the driving mode of cruising condition. The model can be used to design converters and catalysts. (Journal received 30 May 1977).
