Abstract
Angular distribution of annihilation photons has been measured in SmS and Sm0.85Y0.15S. The distribution curves show that SmS is ionic at NTP and Sm0.85Y0.15S is metallic with an intermediatte valence of 2.73 for samarium ion. The large density of states due to the f{hook}-level appears around 3 mrad in the momentum density distribution. The results are in agreement with the available Mössbauer and lattice constant data. © 1981.
