Direct synthesis of aromatic-aliphatic polyamides by phosphorylation

Several aromatic-aliphatic polyamides were prepared from 2,8-dibenzothiophene-bis(4-oxobutyric acid) and 2,8-dibenzothiophene-5,5-dioxo-bis(4-oxo-butyric acid) with various diamines through the phosphorylation reaction. The polymers were obtained in good yields with inherent viscosities in the range 0.54-0.62 dl/g. They were characterized by i.r. and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. Physical properties (density, solubility and thermal behaviour) of these polymers were studied. © 1988.
