Abstract
Thermoluminescence (TL) and optical absorption studies on gamma irradiated RbCl:Sr2+ are reported. Reduction in the TL output inspite of the enhancement of F-band absorption is attributed to the presence of OH- and related impurities in the crystal. Z1-centres are formed by F-light bleaching subsequent to irradiation and the glow peak attributable to Z1-centres is identified. TL emission spectrum exhibits four bands at 1.85, 2.15, 2.53 and 3.1 eV respectively. They are attributed to the recombination of electrons with different types of V-centres. A tentative energy level diagram showing the different TL processes is suggested. © 1985.
