Abstract
A theoretical study of the regeneration of coked catalyst particles in an adiabatic packed bed reactor has been made. The effect of chemical reaction resistance on the transient temperature and concentration profiles has been investigated. Numerical solutions show that the diffusion controlled model without the chemical reaction resistance is valid only when the reactor is started at temperatures above 540°C. Under certain conditions, it is possible to find the entire reactor bed regenerated completely except for a portion of the bed at the bottom. The diffusion controlled model without the chemical reaction resistance gives no such information. © 1974.
