Abstract
In this paper, creep behaviour of Manual Metal Arc Welded (MMAW) 2.25Cr-1Mo steel is discussed. Creep tests were done at various temperatures in the range of 550 - 700 °C and stress levels of 40 - 180 MPa. It was observed that the material obeyed power law creep and Monkman Grant relation. Larson Miller plot showed large scatter in the high stress region whereas in the lower stress region the scatter was found to be less. The activation energy of the creep process was found to be 323.8 kJ/mol. Microstructural instability of the material contributed to early failure at high temperatures.
