A new algorithm for frequency estimation in the presence of phase noise

Signals ordinarily monochromatic in nature but either due to discontinuities while acquiring the signal or intentional phase variations cause the signal spectrum to spread. Under these conditions it is difficult to estimate the frequency by conventional methods. In this paper a new algorithm was developed and a comparative study with the existing methods was performed. © 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
