Abstract
Nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles were produced by wire explosion process (WEP) in Oxygen ambience. XRD studies have confirmed the formation of NiO during WEP under oxygen rich environment and with high energy ratios. Crystallite size of synthesized NiO nanoparticles was found to be 26.7 nm. The particles produced are spherical in shape as evident from the microstructural characterizations. Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy analysis was made to obtain the band gap of NiO nanoparticles. Thermodynamics aspect of NiO nanoparticles formation were detailed using classical homogeneous nucleation theory. The potential application of NiO as Bio sensor for Glucose sensing was demonstrated using UV-vis spectroscopy, with a detection limit of 42μM.
