Abstract
Optical absorption, fluorescence, and thermoluminescence (TL) studies on thallium doped Cs2SO4 crystals γ‐irradiated at room temperature are made and the results are reported. Optical absorption shows the C‐band at 5.77 eV and on irradiation a new band around 5.62 eV appears which is due to Tl° formed on irradiation. The fluorescence gives an emission at 4 eV which is identified as the characteristic Tl+ emission due to the 3P1 → 1S0 transition of the Tl+ ion. TL glow shows two peaks at 390 and 417 K. TL emission contains only the characteristic Tl+ emission at 4 eV. Copyright © 1988 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA
