Abstract
A variety of techniques for electro-cardiogram data compression have been proposed during the last three decades. These techniques have been vital in reducing the digital ECG data volume for storage and transmission and are essential to a wide variety of applications ranging from diagnostic to ambulatory ECG's. In this paper we intend to present an ECG data compression technique which combines the features of two techniques - the AZTEC direct data compression technique and DPCM technique using linear predictor. Both the above techniques have certain advantages in their applications over certain ranges of the ECG waveform which is sought to be utilized effectively by our technique.
