SOLVENT EFFECTS ON THE PROTONATION OF TRIS-(HYDROXY METHYL) AMINO METHANE IN WATER PROPYLENE GLYCOL MIXTURES FROM E. M. F. MEASUREMENTS.

The protonation behavior of Tris in water-propylene glycol (P. G) has been investigated at 25 degree C by an EMF method involving a cell without liquid junction. The free energy of transfer of different species from water to water-PG mixed solvents are computed. A comparison of the authors results with those of water-ethylene glycol mixtures shows small differences between the two solvent systems.
