Abstract
The glassy compounds of the quaternary system 60AgI-40[Y Ag2O-(1-Y) (0.5 B2O3+0.5 MoO3)] were prepared by quenching the melt. The amorphous nature was confirmed by X-ray diffraction. The maximum conductivity is found to be 4.42×10-2 Ω-1 cm-1 at room temperature (305 K). The conductivity is a non-linear function of the ratio between the glass modifier to the glass former. The electronic conductivity is found to be of the order of 10-7 Ω-1 cm-1. The transport number of silver ions is found to be nearly unity. © 1988 Elsevier Science Publishers B.V.
