Abstract
An ESR study of copper-doped KHSO4 is reported. Cu2+ centers trapped at four chemically inequivalent sites are found. The principal g and A values obtained are reported. Cu2+ ion replaces a type I or type II potassium ion, the excess charge being compensated by the nearest potassium ion vacancy or a nearby proton vacancy. The ground state of Cu2+ in KHSO4 is found to be 0.841|x2 - y2 > + 0.187| 3z2 - r2>. © 1976.
